E2: OBJECT, UNIVERSE & LIFE IN PERFORMANCE
Merlin Puppet Theatre
SPACE SIX
Monday 8th - Tuesday 9th April 2019
10am - 5pm daily
Ages 18+ / adults
£120
An approach to all three basic elements that contribute to making a complete visual universe - Object, Universe and Life. OBJECT - puppet, mask, shadows; UNIVERSE - scenography, light and sound; LIFE - how these elements become animate. An exploratory laboratory, which examines through analysis, practice and experimentations, how a harmonious puppetry performance is created. Through improvisations and research on stage individually and in groups, participants will work on how to develop and realise an idea, all the way from scratch to the final desirable result. See here for Merlin Puppet Theatre's show at the festival, "Noone's Land".

Moving Parts Puppet School

The Moving Parts Puppet School is a space for people in the North East of England to create, play, explore, express and imagine. It is a place for discovering puppetry and for building a community for the art form in the region.
The Puppet School has been created specifically for North East people and it aims to spark creativity in kids, teens and adults alike through accessible and affordable courses.

Each ticket on a Moving Parts Puppet School course includes all puppet making materials needed and a specially-designed, pop-up home theatre. The pop-up home theatre designed by Rachael Horner can be placed everywhere from kitchen tables, to hospital bedsides, to back gardens – a tiny, magical world can be created in the home.
The Moving Parts Puppet School debuted in Spring 2021 by delivering two online courses for kids (7-11) and teens (12-16), made possible through funding from the Community Foundation / Newcastle Cultural Investment Fund. We returned for Autumn 2021 with three courses for kids, teens and adults in partnership with Life and Limb Puppets, made possible through funding from Arts Council England and the Community Foundation / Wide Open Road Fund.
